Did you know that weather is the cause of 90% of the world’s global disasters, and that weather is estimated to cost $250 billion globally each year?

The National Center for Community Strategies assists communities to prepare, respond, and recover in the face of environmental and man-made disruptions caused by climate change or other factors through collaborative, innovative solutions. We partner with national and community leaders, organizations, and coalitions to identify and expand opportunities to deliver applied research, consulting, education, and training to build community resilience in the face of climate change.

Specifically: 

• We focus on stakeholder capacity building at the local scale of preparedness and resilience nationally and internationally with an explicit awareness of social and climate justice.
• We work to strengthen the evidence base for taking action on climate change, and developing tools for community leaders to take action on equitable climate-resilience approaches.
