Interrupted Sleep May Lead to Alzheimer’s, New Studies Show

Disrupted sleep could increase the risk of dementia, a series of major studies suggests. Research on more than 1,600 people found that those suffering from disordered breathing at night were more likely to suffer an accumulation of proteins linked to Alzheimer’s disease. The three US studies examined links between obstructive sleep apnea one of the most common sleep disorders and changes to the brain which may indicate a greater risk of dementia.
